Generating capacity of the small hydroelectric power plant in the four rivers is enough of supply for 250,000 people until the end of the year.

On August 31, the small hydroelectric power plant of the Sejong Weir initiated its operation for the first time. The rest of the 15 weirs will start operating the hydroelectric power plants sequentially by the end of this year. The small hydroelectric power plant of Sejong Weir has a generating capacity of 2310kW (770kWx3units), and an annual production of 12 million kWh. It is enough supply for 10,000 populations to use for a year. The effects to decrease 8000 tons of Carbon and to alternate 20,000 barrels of crude oil importation are expected.

When all of the 16 weirs are in operation in the end of the year, the environment-friendly energy resources will be generated and it will contribute to relieve the electric power shortages. The total generating capacity of all 16 small hydroelectric power plants is 5,756 kW and an annual production is 271 million kWh. This is more than half of the annual generating capacity of Paldang Dam and good enough amount for the population of 250,000. It is also predicted to substitute for the crude oil importation of 454,000 barrels and to reduce carbon dioxide release by 183,000 tons.

Water is being discharged energetically out of the small hydroelectric power plant pipe the Sejong Weir.
