Dashing with the Traditional Image - Nakdan Weir of the Nakdong River (11/15)

Nakdan Weir was placed in the focal point of Sangju, Uiseong, and Gumi in the history, culture, and human of three areas. The appearance is reflective of the Korean traditional image and it displays the confident and elegant sight. Nakdan Weir is 286m long with a 144.0m fixed weir and a 142.0m movable weir, and the small hydroelectric power plant is made available even in drought season with annual generating capacity of 14,700,000 kwh. The fish way is a hybrid type of natural fishway and Ice Harbor fishway so that the fish can move to upstream and to downstream much freely. Nakdong Port is restored to provide various regional culture experience sites and eco-park is constructed by the restoration of regional habitats, creating wild flower fields and the pebbles waterlog pond.

The opening ceremony of the Nakdan Weir will be held in November 15, and will be followed by various programs such as the Pungmul Band performance, water-skis show, windsurfing parade, boating, an ecological environment photo exhibition, and congratulatory performance. A walkathon, the Nakdong River Indigo Water Way Contest is scheduled as well, so it would be worth participating if you love walking along the beautiful scenery.
