Riparian zone raising the leisure standard

As soon as the dredge works are finished, riparian area creation works start. The Han, Geum, and Yeongsan River basins to be finished dredge works in March are waiting to be retouched. Each riparian area is planned to be a Complex Culture Facility encompassing culture, rest, recuperation, tourism and leisure by fostering 36 Scenic Views from regional touristic resources, forming eco-streams and building aquatic sports infrastructure. The 36 Views - with weirs as the center - are divided into 8 spots in the Han; 12 in the Nakdong; 8 in the Geum; and 8 in the Yeongsan River basin, with schedules of sequential open from May to end of the year. Among these, the three Views of the Han River, the one View of the Geum and the three Views of the Yeongsan are scheduled to be completed within the first half of 2011.
Making eco-streams is the key work as a year-round project still in 2011. Starting with completion of making ecostreams in Sinngwan district (the Geum), Yeongsan district (the Yeongsan), the office continue to make sustainable many streams (36 steams in the Han including Dumulmeori, 12 streams with migratory birds habitat in the Geum’s estuary, 15 streams in the Yeongsan including Donglim district, and 36 streams in the Nakdong encompassing Samlak district).

Once the riparian zones creation becomes attainable, more abundant events and festivals would be available in inspiration with vernacular culture. The existing fests like Dumulmeori Fest of the Han, Yeongsan Waterway Restoration Festival, Reeds Fest of the Geum River and aquatic sports festival in the Nakdong will give people another joy of life.
