From March 21 to April 30, through the event of creating ‘Forests of Hope’, anyone who is interested to take part in can join to plant a tree with his/her own name tag.

Though similar events have been before, however, this time it differs from citizens’ participation. The trees to be planted these areas are sorted under professional consultation with being considered riparian viability and hydrographic stability based on each location. 4,864 big-sized trees, 37,235 mid-sized ones and lots of flowering plants are to be newly planted. By regional classification based on the rivers, zelkova tree which has long life-span and elegant shape is chosen to be planted for the basin of the Han River (Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Prov.); finge tree which grows well in wet area for the Geum River basin (Gongju City, Chungnam Prov.); prunus yedoensis tree for the Yeongsan River basin (Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City); crape-myrtle tree resistant to wind pressure and water logging for the Nakdong areas (Changnyeong County, Gyeongnam Prov.)

Creating ‘Forests of Hope’ will be held simultaneously in whole nation for a month from late March. With family, lover, friends, you can plant a tree with memory for future. These riparian forests are expected to be reborn as theme area blending nature and regional emotions.
