Twelve Views of the Nakdong River

The Eulsuk Isle will be specialized as ecological wetland; Hwawang Mountain as local cultural festival (Field of reeds festival); the Nakdan Weir as Nakdong ferry; Buyongdae, Hahoe Village and Byeongsan Seowon (Auditorium) as cultural resource and area for sightseeing. The Sangju Weir will be constructed in harmony with reeds field, and Haepyeong field is to be rearranged in theme of the Gumi Weir and habitats of migratory birds.

The riparian area of the Nakdong River starts from migratory birds, because the Eulsuk Isle (the haven of migratory birds) is the 1st view. The 2ndview is Nakdong River's scenery seen from Imgyeongdae, the Obong Mountain. The 3rdview is Samlang Hajungdo (Samlang inter-river isles). As the 4thview, Reeds Festival of Hwawang Mountain in Changnyeong County was nominated. The Upo Wetland was selected as5thview. The 6thview includes the Dalseong Wetland and the Gangjeong Weir where you can see diverse species of plants and animals. The 7thview is Patriot Park in Chilgok County and sand bar. The 8thview is the Gumi Weir and Haepyeong field. The 9th is Nakdong ferry. Bicycle Museum in Sangju and field of reeds put their name on the 10thview. The 11thview is the scenery of Nakdong ferry represented by Samgang Jumak (Samgang Tavern). And finally Andong Hahoe Village which was nominated as world heritage and Byeongsan Seowon (Auditorium) are listed on the 12thview of the Nakdong River.

The 1st view
Flock of herring gulls and black-tailed gulls in the Eulsuk Isle, the habitat of migratory birds in lower Basin of Nakdong River. The Eulsuk Isle is where saltwater and fresh water meet so that it is very significant in ecological viewpoint. Therefore it becomes the paradise for the migratory birds.

The 5th view
The Upo Wetland was estimated to be developed in the early time of Korean Peninsula was formed. Being the largest natural swamp, it was designated as preservation wetland by 'the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in 1998'.

The 6th view
The Dalseong Wetland in Daegu designated as wildlife sanctuary.

The 11th view
Being called the last traditional tavern, Samgang Jumak (Samgang Tavern) was built in around 1900. Though it had been neglected after death of the last landlady YU Ok-Rye on in 2006, however, Municipality of Yecheon County restored into its original form with expenditure of KRW 150 million.

The 12th view
Andong County is a repository of our traditional cultural assets. Especially the Hahoe Village designated as World Heritage had its quantum leap with its fame by receiving Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as a VIP visitor. Her Britannic Majesty received her 73thanniversary party from Hahoe Village. It resulted in highly worldly fame on Hahoe Village.
