Eight Views of Yeongsan River

Among the Eight Views of the Yeongsan River, estuary dam is to be specialized for admiring sunset and the Seungchon Weir for optimized observatory to watch migratory birds. Theme of Pungyeongjeong (Pungyeong Gazebo) is history and culture, while the theme of Seokgwanjeong is 'hwangpo dotsbae (royal robe lugger)'. Dayadeul (Daya Field) is to be retouched with themes of Dayanaru (Daya ferry) and autochthonous wild flowers.

The Eight Views of the Yeongsan River is scheduled to consist of deliberately restored riparian area which gives scent of historic romances and arts. The estuary dam of the Yeongsan is enough to be designated as the 1st view of the Yeongsan because of its beautiful scenery of sunset. The 2ndview is the Gok River and Sikyeongjeong (-jeong means gazebo). Seokgwanjeong which provides wide scenic view for magnificent Yeongsan River is designated as the 3rdview with 'hwangpo dotsbae (royal robe luggers)'. Dayadeul around the Juksan Weir is the 4thview for its wild flowers to attract visitors. Consequently, passing by Naju Plains of the 5thview which is the biggest national granary, you can see the grand spectacle of soaring migratory birds on the Seungchon Weir where split waterway meet together again as junction in 6thview. The 7th is Pungyeongjeong where you can admire nature with poem and song in breeze. Along with dawn mist curling up from bamboo colony, you have seen the 8thview. The Eight Views of the Yeongsan River will be managed under concentration of preservation and harmony with local residents' culture and their natural lifestyle.

The 1st view
Sunset view of the Yeongsan River is famous for its magnificence. Especially the sunset seen from the estuary dam might make so many emotions cross.

The 2nd view
The meandering stream of the Yeongsan. Here is a place mixed with wind and reeds. You may take a rest in the gazebo of Sikyeongjeong located in Jigok-ri, Nam-myeon, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do. This gazebo was built in 1560 by KIM Seong-Won for his master and father-in-law 'Seokcheon LIM Eok-Ryeong'

The 3rd view
The scenery of Seokgwanjeong area seen from Jungjangpo, 2nd construction site of the Yeongsan River the 5th view In the basin of the Yeongsan River, vast plains stretch widely. The Naju Plains called as 'national granary' takes charge in rice which is the staple food for Koreans.

The 7th view
Pungyeongjeong Wetland located in Sinchang-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Jeollanam-do. Pungyeongjeong is the gazebo built by KIM Eon-Geo who retired from the high official of Seungmunwon and returned to hometown.
