The Eight Weirs of the Nakdong which River takes Rest on their Journey

As the Nakdong is the longest river in South Korea, total 8 weirs will be positioned in the river. The Haman Weir, being the representative one in the Nakdong, records the biggest tourists' visits up until now, and the Hapcheon Weir which is under active restoration work figures a sacred ibis.The total completion rate including weirs indicates 24.4% as of September 1st.

With basic layout of skyline in accord with surrounding natural scenery, we deliberately reflected the local pride of Gaya (ancient kingdom located in southeastern part of the peninsular), Ara Gaya of present Haman region and Vitsbeol Gaya of Changnyeong area.


The Hapcheon Weir (the 20thconstruction site),wings' flap of Sacred Ibis in the Upo Wetland.

It gives forms of vigorously soaring sacred ibis. The terrace land on the side of the Hapcheon Weir will have environment-friendly fish ways.


The Dalseong Weir of the 22thconstruction site which takes charge of the longest sector.

This 22thconstruction sector, preserving the previous wetland, takes charge in the longest area of 38.02 km among 16 weirs construction areas. Besides, there are the Gangjeong Weir embodying 'gayageum (Korean zither with twelve strings)' in the23thsector, the Chilgok Weir representing waterway of the Nakdong in the 24thsector, the Gumi Weir giving impression of turtle and dragon in the 30thsector, the Nakdan Weir on the upper stream of the Nakdong in the 32thand the Sangju Weir with its elegancy in the 33thconstruction sector.
