Flood and drought almost come together because of climate change

The southern region of China, until the March of this year, the worst drought out of recent 100 years made the residents suffer from water shortage (no rains in 173 days). However, only two months later, 600 mm heavy rain took away about 70 lives. Since that, continued heavy rain added 199 as died, 123 as missing and 29,135,000 people lost their shelters, recording as one of the worst flood disasters. These regions show excessively the recent aspect of climate change with ironic mixture of drought and flood

These simultaneous abnormal changes of weather are being regarded the result from global warming, with El Nino pointed out as the direct cause. El Nino is the climate pattern which causes unforeseen weather phenomena over the world from the atmospheric circulation derived from the raised temperature on equatorial area of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. This time, El Nino started to be generated from June 2009, passed the point of acme (+1.8℃), went down in May(+0.8℃) this year to descend again. Fortunately, it is forecasted to recover a normal degree during the upcoming flood season.
