Mopyeong Village treasuring the essence of traditional Korean houses

Hampyeong is the city breathing with history as well as its proud natural resources. This city has 'the memorial museum of independence movements' recreated the historic Korean Interim Government in Shanghai during the Imperial Japanese occupation in early 20 century. In the restored historic monument, located in Hamjeong-ri, Sinngwangmyeon, you can see even old worn-out furniture from the original place of Shanghai. Visitors also can find the bedrooms used for independent activists, office of Sir. KIM Gu, the documentaries and video archives of patriot YOON Bong-Gil, LEE Bong-Chang. Why the Interim Government monument was restored in Hampyeong? Hampyeong is the home town of the fiscal manager of the interim government, KIM cheol, and moreover, Hampyeong is the home of patriots to the bones struggled against Japanese occupation and military dictator. That's why you can find the monument here. Hampyeong is one of the three 'Seong' and three 'Pyeong'(derived from the part of the city name that was famous for patriotic independence resistance movement so that even Japanese occupation forces gave up). The 'Three Seong' includes Jangseong, Gokseong and Boseong; the 'Three Pyeong' includes Hampyeong, Changpyeong and Nampyeong.

Another history can be found in Mopyeong village which later gave birth to the renowned patriot YOON Bong-Gil. The village is a typical 'clan village' first settled by YOON Gil in the time of King Sejo of Joseon Dynasty. In this Mopyeong village giving cozy and homely feeling with surrounded by the Hyebo Stream and Imcheon Mountain, you can see the 130 year-old tradition of OH Yoon-Yeol house and the Head House of the Papyeong YOON Clan(the Clan of surname 'Yoon' derived from Papyeong, present Paju area, northern Gyeonggi Province) with Gwiryeongjae Signboard on its gate among many preserved traditional Korean style houses. The outward appearance and structure itself are truly a Hanok(traditional Korean house) but interiors and amenities are equipped with modern convenience thing for tourist, because this beautiful and traditional village was designated the Traditional Korean house experience Folk Village with B&B(Bed & Breakfast) facilities.
