Go into the city of lakeside tourism with aquatic sports

A grand scale of ecological forest is waiting to be respawned in this area. For this to achieve, Hampyeong County rounds off the administrative procedures of 'index investigation for cultural assets', 'advance investigation into environmental suitability', 'evaluation on calamitous effects' by promoting basic planning of creating eco-forest and design service. Then, from next year, the municipality gets to begin the construction in earnest. After completion, the ecological forest in Hampyeong, with total expenses equivalent to KRW 4,000 million on 250,000 m2 square on existing forests, will lead the 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' as the forest for restoration of botanically high worth preserving evergreen trees of warm temperature zone and further studies of research, observation, preservation and proliferation.

The municipal office established already a plan to rebirth as lakeside tourism city making maximum use of surrounding outstanding natural scenery. Among the sectors of the Yeongsan River, the one of Naju has too narrow in river's width, and one of Mokpo has already urbanized so that they are not apt for aquatic sports and enjoyments. Contrarily, the river sector for Hampyeong is very capable to have broad width, appropriate velocity, and beautiful landmark so that it surely going to be the optimal place for water sports after the Four Major Rivers Restoration Project. Hampyeong is going to restore Sapo ferry site that result in the lake tourism and resort belt connecting the ferry, the Yeongsan River observatory, auto camping site and complex of pensions.
