How do you know effects of the Four Rivers Restoration Project in YeongSan River with such little rain?
It means that it rained less in comparison to the other rivers. If it were before the project, it would have been dangerous. After the dredging, it just seemed that the water had swollen a little more than usual. It has been six months already since the residents knew for sure that there will no longer be flood damage thanks to YoungSan River Project.
Are there any changes after the rainfalls?
Before it stunk like waste water right after each rainfall. Today, water doesn’t smell much even in usual times. It seems that the water quality has been improved. It is evident that the improvement was made by removing polluted soil piled over the years.
How do residents react to this change?
They say the brand new world has been created. Not only has it stopped the floods, but also created parks. The entire riverside area has been renovated to parks, so now people have places to go to cheer themselves up. This rainy season made me realize that YeongSan River has surely been recreated.
