The four rivers proved the effect of relieving the threat of flood under torrential downpour

The Four Major Rivers Restoration Project was to be verified that it has effect of alleviate the threat of flood.

In August 16, the Office of National River Restoration reported that up to 1.7 meter of lowered flood level effect by completing the dredge up to 26% until the end of July, acording to the analysis the channel shape

Actually, last July 11, because of concentrated torrential downpour over the Yeongsan River, stream flow drastically increased to alert 'Flood Watch', however, since the main stream have been dredged, flood elevation got lowered in maximum 0.94 meter, consequently there were almost not any damages. In case of the Nakdong River, July 16 and 17, Haman and Hapcheon region 213 mm, August 8 to 11, typhoon named as Denmu poured huge amount of water of 243 mm in Hapcheon and 178 mm in Goryeong, however, no damage were reported within the sector of the project.
