Supercomputer-aided precipitation forecasting on the basin of the four rivers

By using supercomputer in predicting rainfalls on the basin of the four rivers, the standard of creditability will be highly raised. K-Water, the governmental organization specialized in systematic management of water resources, and KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) specialized in supercomputer management, these two organizations signed MOU(memorandum of understanding) for supercomputer-aided customized weather forecasting. The supercomputer we use is the one ranked within world top 500 and with high-capacity (Every year, ISC decides the ranks).

Hence, about the basin of the four rivers, as well as the previous multi-purpose dam areas, we will have equipped system forecasting in every 3㎞ grid units (previously 30㎞ grid system), in addition to that, the prediction will be shortened more frequently every 3 days from 5days.
