The total 63 members of 'Environmental Groups' Conference', a civic organization, made a visit the construction field of the Ipo Weir located in 'the Han River Zone 3' on June 4th.
They showed active attitude during the field experience, with being had briefing the situation and asking actively questions. Subsequently, they visited a park for ecological studies of the Han River to look around water purification facilities; visited Ecological Wetland Park of the Gyeongan Stream to make a guess how the riparian area will be transformed after the project's completion.
Lots of members of the environmental groups who had field experience expressed their opinions with deepened comprehension after the visit. Especially, "Having heard many news releases about the controversial disputes about this project; however this experience made me feel the necessity for our next generation." And other one said, "I had my worries about the project, but now I got to ease the concerns." Like these, after their field experience, many of them expressed reliefs by easing concerns gained from negative media releases so far. And more positive opinions as, "The project seems to have more merits to revive the ecosystems" "Hundreds emotions crowd on my mind. This reminds of me 37-year-ago visit for the Soyang Dam construction site."
