The water quality of major spots in the Four Rivers improved up to 2.8 times than last year

The Office of National River Restoration addressed reportedly that BOD(biological oxygen demand) level measured on the major spots of the Four Rivers have improved in 2.8 times than last year’s data. According to the research by the Office, the sample taken from Naju area(the Yeongsan River) has been improved 2.8 times from 10.2mg to 3.7mg per litre, ones taken from Buyeo (the Geum River) has been improved 2.4 times from 6.2mg to 2.6mg, and in case of Paldang Dam area in the Han River has been improved 1.7 times(2.4→1.4mg) while Mulgeum area(the Nakdong River) has been improved 1.5 times clearer(3.0→2.0mg). The Office estimated that recently the rainfall and amount of dam discharge has been increased up to double comparing to last year. Moreover, after the completion of the Project, if the water holding capacity for steady flux of river will increase, much more effect of water quality improvement would be measured.
