Presiding over the State Council meeting in March 23th, President Lee emphasized that revitalizing lives and restoring ecosystem are his mission as well as a conviction, also stressed the importance of water problem by saying, "Water shortage problem is not simply about the matter of environment. We must secure the sufficient water resources also because of the climate change and global warming." With this, he mentioned that he constantly have asserted it since he was a member of National Assembly from 1995. "It is natural that there are some people who oppose to the policy with political purpose", he continued to point out, "Nevertheless, we must not regard the persuasion for even the opponents as futile attempt."
"Gyeongbu Highway (which has become a crucial main artery at last) and Gyeongbu Express Railway were confronted to political opposition at that time." He kept on saying, "(During my mayoralty of Seoul) the opposite party's politicians attacked my policies(exclusive bus lane system and the Restoration Project for Cheonggye stream) with heavy pressure of resignation. However, I persuaded them at last." He says that truly right policies are necessary to be explained constantly with our effort, with emphasizing that something not to fail to be informed must be informed with sense of duty no matter how hard the political opposition.
