Creating job effects out of the Project

According to the analysis on the employment effects equivalent to KRW 7.37 trillion from 2009 to 2010 for 2 years, there have been 88,400 workers had an opportunity of being employed, the Ministry of Labor said at employment policy inquiry commission (Press Center, Seoul) in June 30. Those were fewer amounts (11,852 – 11.8%) than 10,252 released from the master plan of Ministry of Land. However, since the Four Major Rivers Restoration Project consists of complex processes including civil engineering, construction, landscape architecture and more technologies, the employment induction effect in other fields might compensate the gap enough. In the collective survey for the companies which took part in the project, 97.5% showed a positive indication (respectively 44.9% in the increase of employment, and 52.6% in maintenance of the status quo). In the investigation classified by participant companies, main contractors showed more employment increase than retention; con the contrary, subcontractors showed that they preferred status quo than new employment, the Ministry of Labor explained. Especially, 74.6% among the companies replied that they might not recruit new manpower, unless they participated in the Project.
