We must find a way to secure more water

To address these concerns, the Korean government has launched projects aimed at the restoration of major rivers in the nation including the Nakdong River and Yeongsan River. Twenty years ago, the government successfully restored the Han River in Seoul to its former glory; today, it is not only a place of refreshment and entertainment to citizens, but also home to many species which have disappeared for decades. In more recent years, the nation also transformed a small, heavily polluted river in the industrial city of Ulsan back into the ecologically-healthy state. The nation’s accumulated knowledge and experience will be applied to the Four Rivers Restoration Project: a series of environmentally-friendly, multi-purpose public projects that will benefit the natural environment, the people and culture of Korea, and the rivers themselves.
