Hampyeong, soaring with the Butterfly Fest Open wings as world class eco-city along the awakening Yeongsan River

Hampyeong County (in Jeonnam Province) famous for its Butterfly Festival is going to be upgraded as ecological tourism city. Hampyeong, designated as 'the leading sector of revitalizing the Yeongsan River project' with Naju city. It actively involves in environmental improvement project on the Hampyeong Stream. As the Hampyeong Stream is turning over a new leaf, Hampyeong County prepares for flight as green city with beautiful lake and stream with competitiveness of beautiful landmark.

Hampyeong, the place which butterfly of messenger in the Yeongsan River flutters, has successfully finished "Hampyeong Butterfly Fest" this year as usual. The festival, being held from April 23 to May 9th as the 12th one this year, was great boom this year also with more than 300,000 visitors, despite the messy political situation caused by miserably sunken naval ship in the Yellow Sea.

While spring shows off fantastic fluttering of butterflies, autumn in this charming local city spreads the intoxicating fragrance of lilies. 'Hampyeong Great Lilies Ceremony' since 2004 is a festival themed of lilies, the flower of autumn. While the autumn bugs getting lost in the fragrance of flowers, many family-unit visitors gathers to taste another real fragrance of Hampyeong.
