The Taehwa River in Ulsan had been desperately and hopelessly dead out of wastewater from complex of factories. Besides, there are the Tan Stream(Tan-cheon) which became the repository of the Seongnam citizen’s inspiration, the Seongnae Stream which turn into nature-friendly ecological stream, and the Gyeongan Stream which became to hug the migratory birds with its field of reeds.
Overseas examples include the Tennessee River(USA), the Ara River(Japan) and the Isar River(Germany) that revived healthier after respective river restoration projects.
The restoration project for the Tennessee River in the United States was typically successful new deal project with bringing the effect of groundbreaking business recovery.
As to the chronic flood problem of Ara River in Japan, they had resolved it by constructing super embankment. The Isar River of Germany had been restored as nature-friendly river with abundant flux by broadening the width from 30m to 150m.
