Sunken Dredger Salvaged in Safety

Busan Regional Construction Management Administration had completed to salvage the sunken dredger in the Nakdong on January 22, with undertaking full investigation into the accident. The authority had made steady and persistent effort to retrieve the sunken fuel tank and not to have secondary damages proliferated forward surrounding catchment with preventive measures.

Some of the criticism was floated with beating relevant authority insistently about lacking proper and prompt countermeasures. About that, the Ministry of Land explained that there had been inevitably indispensable time and procedures for safety removal of fuel tanks. They accented there was no negligence in dealing with the aftermath. “To determine the cause of sinking, it will take 10 to 20 days. We will assign ship experts (Korean Register of Shipping) with asking close scrutiny,” KIM Han-Chang (team leader of the Nakdong project, Busan RCMA) said.

And another official in the salvation field reconfirmed that multiple layers of oil fences were already set and there is no additional contamination.
